TTRPG stands for “table-top role-playing game.” Dungeons & Dragons is a TTRPG. Dungeons & Dragons is also extremely complicated and time-consuming to play. I’d like to create a TTRPG card game that is simple, fast paced, and fun to play.
One idea I have is to make it a dungeon exploration card game, where players play heroes exploring a dungeon. Players will turn cards over on the table to reveal new rooms of the dungeon, and they will have randomly drawn encounters along the way. Each encounter they solve or defeat will generate random loot.
Another idea I have is to create a warring states card game that is a cross between the Spellfire card game of the 1990s and Catan. Players will explore the lands around them and take control of them to gain their resources and special abilities. They can also build on the lands or raise armies to attack other lands.
So far these are only ideas in their earliest stages. A lot of tweaking, play-testing, and prototyping will need to be done to ensure that the game meets the basic goals of being simple, fast paced, and fun to play.
