People tend not to know much about what life was like before they were born. However, we have in newspapers hundreds of years of daily reports on interesting things that have happened in the lives of ordinary people. While we can easily find current news on countless websites, the old news is more intriguing.
We have hindsight as an advantage of looking at old news. With the hindsight, we can focus only on the most interesting articles, while ignoring the boring ones. Also, the further we look back to the past, the more interesting it gets, since our way of life, technology, and cultural norms have changed so much. Go far enough back, and fact becomes more interesting than fiction.
Newspapers.com looks like an excellent resource for poring through old news articles. What if I started a blog featuring the most fun, odd, or interesting news article each day, from 100 years ago? Or 150 years ago? Or even 200 years ago?
