Maddy saw the dead walking amongst the living. She could tell whenever fate decided to take another from our world. It was obvious. Their faces turned pale. Their fingers got bony. And their skin decayed and darkened. They were still alive, but oblivious to the fact that their days of life grew short.
For Maddy, the afterlife stepped over the heels of life. She had learned to deal with it because it was all she knew. Until her father, the only person who she ever loved, was selected by fate.
