They make some good beer out there in rural Virginia. Blue Mountain Brewery is no big-city mega-brewery. It’s not situated just across a border so they can say it’s imported. Nor is it a high-elevation brewery with claims that brewing up there somehow makes the beer taste better. Nope, it’s just country folk brewing beer out in the country.
Blue Mountain Dark Hollow is the best beer I’ve had in a long time. It’s an imperial stout aged in charred oak bourbon barrels. This beer pours pitch black. It’s syrupy and sweet in your mouth with flavors of bourbon, vanilla, and dark molasses. My new favorite.
