Remember the summer of 2014 when everyone was doing the Ice Bucket Challenge? The whole point of it was to raise money and awareness for ALS. ALS stands for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It is also known as motor neuron disease (MND) and Lou Gehrig’s disease.
ALS stands for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It is also known as motor neuron disease (MND) and Lou Gehrig’s disease. The death of the brain neurons that control the muscles causes ALS. As the illness progresses, the muscles shut down. Eventually, the muscles involved in basic functions like swallowing and breathing also shut down, causing death.
Cytokinetics (NASDAQ: CYTK) is one company that is looking for the cure for ALS. Their most advanced drug is tirasemtiv, which is now in Phase 3 clinical trials. Tirasemtiv helps people who have ALS regain their muscle strength. Cytokinetics is also working on drugs for treating heart failure and spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).
The official website for Cytokinetics is www.cytokinetics.com.
I purchased a position of CYTK on August 11 for $11.98 a share. I bought another position August 18 for $12.63 a share. I think the stock is a good buy under $14 per share. I plan to hold CYTK for at least one year.
