A common element of fantasy role-playing games are non-player characters (NPC). These are characters the players meet while playing the game. Often, these characters are boring archetypes of common people like bartenders, guards, or villagers. What if we could make meeting new NPCs fun?
I’d like to write a big book of quirks to bring your NPCs to life and make them memorable. There are already many resources available with dozens, or sometimes hundreds, of various traits, personalities, and quirks you can give your NPCs to bring them alive. However, each of these resources takes a different approach to quirks, some more complicated than others.
For this project, I’d like to compile all of these resources together, find the common “formula” that binds them all, and create the most comprehensive set of NPC quirks ever made.
